How much do you charge?
Rates vary depending upon the type of event
and the day of the week it falls on. Reduced rates apply on Fridays
and Sundays and for events scheduled Monday through Thursday. We
offer discounts to non-profit organizations. Please contact us at

Are you a full-time or part-time DJ?
Affinity For Music is a full-time DJ company. We are available by
phone, email, and to meet with you on your time schedule. As
seasoned professionals in the industry, we deliver the customer
service and event coordination that a part-time DJ can’t provide.
Instead of a part-time DJ that treats your event as just another
“gig,” you will have both owners at your event with Affinity For Music. We give your special day the attention it deserves.
Why is event coordination so important?
Besides great music, the key to a successful reception is Event
Coordination. Seamless flow, or lack of, can make or break an event.
You want to visit with your guests and not worry about the next song
or formality coming up. With both owners at your wedding, one of us
can always control the music while the other coordinates all the
formalities while checking with you. Where most DJ companies stop,
we go above and beyond. We act not only as DJ and Master Of
Ceremonies, but also Reception Coordinator. From the moment your
guests enter the room to the last dance, we will manage every detail
to help make your reception truly a night to remember.
What kind of equipment do
you use?
We use only top of the line equipment to deliver premium sound to
your event. We use a computer based cross-mixing system with a
digital connection to ensure the best sound. We have a wireless
microphone at every event. We are proud to use
JBL EON 15 G2
powered
speakers. The JBL EON’s are firmly entrenched as the industry leader
in powered portable speaker systems. Also, at each event we
digitally equalize the room for customized sound and clarity using
DBX RTA technology.
Do you have a backup system?
Many DJ companies don’t carry a backup system. Can you imagine your
first dance and the music going out with no backup in sight? We
can’t either. We are a big believer in backups and always carry a
backup music system to every event. Our backup music system is
always ready so you can feel rest assured there will be no
interruption in the music.
Are you insured?
Making sure the DJ service that you use carries insurance is
important for your protection and theirs. In fact some event
locations require that the DJ be insured. Affinity For Music
carries both liability and property insurance.
Do you charge for travel, setup or takedown?
There are no hidden fees. Though we typically arrive about two hours
prior to the event start time, we do not charge for set up or take
down. We do not charge for travel within the greater Denver Metro
Area, including Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, and Boulder.
Does Affinity For Music have different packages
available?
Many DJ services offer different packages (gold, silver, basic)
which can get confusing. These packages either give you no lighting
or everything under the sun. Maybe you don’t want a laser beam and
fog at your wedding. Tasteful lighting is a must for any event,
which is why we include free lights with every show. You may also
choose additional lighting effects of your own choice to create the
atmosphere you want. We perform the same high quality, professional
show at every one of our events.
Can we make a do not play
list?
Affinity For Music
realizes the importance of a “Do Not Play” list. With our
Online
Music Database,
you have the ability to specify songs as “Must
Play,” “Play If Possible,” and “Do Not Play.” This is your event;
you shouldn’t have to hear anything you don’t want. We play the
music you want to hear.
Do you act as Master Of Ceremonies?
Yes. Besides the music and coordination, we handle all Master Of
Ceremony announcements.
Owners Tom and Melissa O’Malley’s emcee experience include hundreds of weddings throughout Colorado,
including five years experience as an on-air radio DJ.
How will you be dressed at my event?
An
important part of professionalism is presentation and attire. For
formal events, your Affinity For Music DJs will be dressed in a
tuxedo. For less formal events, you can indicate the attire from a
suit, shirt and tie, or business casual.
Do we meet with you prior to our event?
The
pre-reception planning sessions with your emcee is the foundation of
a successful event. Having performed hundreds of weddings over the
past ten years, we are experts. We can offer advice and ideas from
past couples guaranteed to make your wedding a success. In the
pre-reception planning sessions, you will also get to listen to any
songs and record and custom voice dedications. In addition, a short
meeting by phone or in person will take place the week of your event
to cover all the last minute details.
How do your prices compare to other DJ companies?
Not all DJ’s are the same. In most cases you get what you pay for.
It doesn’t make sense to spend thousands of dollars on your wedding
only to hire the cheapest entertainment. We say entertainment
because at weddings people remember if they were bored and went home
early or danced all night and had the time of their life. We charge
an affordable price for top quality and always leave our clients
feeling that they truly got their money's worth and more.
Are you a member of any professional DJ
associations?
We are certified members of
both the
Colorado Professional Disc Jockey and
American Disc Jockey Association.
These are recognized
organizations of professional Disc Jockeys committed to providing
the highest levels of customer satisfaction, performance and
professionalism. Making sure your DJ is a member of a major Disc
Jockey association can help you avoid hiring a DJ whose lack of
experience, professionalism, and talent can ruin your event.
Do you provide a written contract?
A written and signed contract protects you and ensures you are
dealing with a reputable company. Our contract also provides
Affinity For Music Guarantees such as: starting on time, not playing
songs with inappropriate language, and conducting ourselves in a
professional and courteous manner.
What about gratuities?
Unlike many other service professionals, we do not contractually add
service charges or gratuities. After considering the advanced
pre-planning with your emcee and DJ, the level of service and
quality of presentation, along with your overall enjoyment, we
believe you should decide for yourself what level of gratuity, if
any, you would like to give. Gratuities are always appreciated,
never expected.
